We have never seen anything so ridiculous on a West End stage… and we mean that in a good way.

Yes, Ginger Johnson, the ‘I Love Lucy’-inspired drag queen who walked away with the prize (just a sparkly stick, no money and no free make-up for life, as she’ll tell you) on RuPaul’s Drag Race has brought her Edinburgh Fringe show to the Soho Theatre and it’s nuttier than a King Size Snickers.

Called Ginger Johnson Blows Off – and it does actually start with some high-octane lighting of farts, which is classy for the West End! – the concept is that as Ginger has reached her goals by becoming a super-famous Drag Race-winning queen, she now has to set new challenges only this time it’s physical… and dangerous!

With an amazing entrance, some original songs and ridiculous dare-devil stunts that do actually contain real ‘magic’, Ginger having been a magic freak as a child, the whole thing comes across very panto, very funny with lots of audience contact and a very big finale.

You really can’t beat Soho Theatre for a decent night out – even if you just go to the bar – and this is classic ST fare: edgy, queer, fun, sparkly and dafter than your average brush.

Ginger Johnson Blows Off is at Soho Theatre until 12 October. sohotheatre.com
