Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment has announced that the documentary, Studio One Forever, will be available for purchase and rental on digital platforms beginning 6th January 2025, following its theatrical release in October.

The documentary explores the significance of Studio One and its associated venue, The Backlot, which served as a pillar of hope and community for gay men from 1974 to 1994 during a challenging period marked by the rise of gay rights, the popularity of disco, and the AIDS crisis. The club provided a refuge from widespread homophobia and police enforcement. Currently, the impending demolition of the iconic West Hollywood building has sparked community efforts to preserve its historical relevance.

Through personal narratives, Studio One Forever presents the venue's story in relation to the evolving landscape of gay liberation contrasted against 1980s conservatism and the impact of the AIDS epidemic. The documentary aims to capture the essence of an era and solidify the club's legacy for future audiences.

Featuring a range of celebrity interviews, the documentary includes insights from notable figures such as Chita Rivera, Bruce Vilanch, Sam Harris, Felipe Rose, Charlo Crossley, Melissa Rivers, Roslyn Kind, Lance Bass, and Thelma Houston, among others. The narration is provided by Bruce Vilanch and David Del Valle, accompanied by music from artists including Donna Summer, Sylvester, Thelma Houston, Village People, and Bronski Beat.

Studio One Forever has garnered notable recognition, earning acclaim at festivals such as the Austin Film Festival (where it was a Jury Award Nominee for Best Documentary Feature), the BFI Flare London LGBTQ+ Film Festival (where it was an Official Selection), and the Palm Springs International Film Festival (where it was named among the Best of Fest – Audience Favourites).
