Armie Hammer has shared his experiences with same-sex encounters in a recent episode of his podcast, Armie HammerTime. The 38-year-old actor, who starred in Call Me By Your Name with Timothée Chalamet [pictured], appeared alongside actress and mental health coach Dani Druz to discuss various themes, including relationships and experimentation.
During the podcast, which aired on a Sunday, Hammer recounted an incident from his past when he tried to engage with a man. He described feeling intrigued by the idea, stating, "I tried hooking up with a dude one time… I was like you know what, like women are the worst; gay dudes seem to have it so easy." This perspective, however, led to a rather unexpected outcome for Hammer.
He narrated a humorous yet ultimately unsatisfactory encounter with a "handsome French" man, who he began to make out with. Hammer reflected on the experience with vivid imagery, noting the discomfort he felt due to the man's beard and physical stature. "I remember I put my arms around him and I was like, oh my God, these shoulders are so wide. He’s so big!" he exclaimed. However, as the evening progressed, Hammer realised that he was merely "going through the motions," experiencing no physical or emotional response. "I was like, this is so strange," he added, emphasising that he felt no arousal during the encounter.
The podcast episode also highlighted Hammer's frankness regarding his sexual experiences, where he mentioned stopping the interaction when things escalated physically. "You’re not gonna touch my flaccid p***s… I gotta stop us here," he stated, illustrating his discomfort.
Aside from discussing his attempts at same-sex encounters, Hammer also addressed his past controversies, including previous allegations that have plagued his career. When questioned about accusations of cannibalism, he dismissed them outright, stating, "You know what you have to do to actually be a cannibal? You have to actually eat human flesh. So no." Additionally, he acknowledged the negative impact of his behaviour on others, admitting, "I left a lot of people in that wake very angry at me for my behaviour… Does it make me a d**k? Absolutely."
Hammer's revelations come during a time when he has been navigating a tumultuous personal life, having undergone a divorce from Elizabeth Chambers, which was finalised in 2020. Throughout the podcast, he touched on themes of validation, recalling his experiences in relationships and how they intertwined with his need for affirmation.
The conversation has drawn attention not only for Hammer's frankness about his sexual experimentation but also for the context of his admission against the backdrop of multiple allegations surrounding his conduct in relationships. The episode offers listeners insight into his psyche, as he confronts both past behaviours and his journey within the realm of intimate relationships.
