Brighton is set to welcome music icon Mariah Carey as the headliner for this year’s Brighton Pride event, scheduled for 2 August 2025. The announcement confirms a long-awaited appearance that was initially planned for 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a video posted to her social media, Carey enthusiastically expressed her excitement about performing, stating, “Let’s make history together, dahhhlings! See you at Pride on the Park 2025.” She arrived in the video accompanied by one of her official Pride merchandise fans, featuring the cover art of her celebrated album Rainbow. Carey added, “I can’t wait to see all of your beautiful faces. […] It’s going to be a scorcher!”

This year, Brighton Pride is embracing the theme Ravishing Rage, which organisers said represents a celebration of “resilience, spirit, passion and unity.” Paul Kemp, the Managing Director of Brighton Pride, expressed his enthusiasm regarding Carey’s scheduled performance, stating, “We are beyond thrilled to have the global icon Mariah Carey headline Pride on the Park this year.” He recalled the disappointment faced when the event could not proceed in 2020, underscoring the anticipation surrounding this year’s celebrations.

Kemp further elaborated, “Our annual community parade will kickstart proceedings and with this year’s theme of Ravishing Rage, we march with unstoppable energy and fearless spirit, turning adversity into triumph. We can’t wait to show you everything that we’ve got planned for Pride ‘25.”

Mariah Carey, a monumental figure in the music industry, boasts over 200 million album sales and holds the record for the most number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, with 19 chart-toppers, which include classics such as Emotions, Hero, Fantasy, Honey, We Belong Together, and Touch My Body. Her performance at Brighton Pride is anticipated to be a highlight of the event.
